Since March 1949, Georgia Industries for the Blind (GIB) has been providing employment opportunities to individuals who are blind in manufacturing and services. GIB works in conjunction with the Vocational Rehabilitation program and the National Industries for the Blind to provide employment to blind individuals across the nation.

_Position Overview_

To assist the shipping department with clerical duties, primarily with regards to but not limited to shipping functions

_Principal Duties and Responsibilities_

  • Performs normal clerical duties as required, including word processing, filing, answering phones, taking messages, etc.

  • Performs data entry for receiving transactions, piece tickets, and requsitions

  • Verifies orders are correct by confirming shipment goods match pick lists and bills of lading prior to pick-up

  • Verifies commercial carrier shipments, such as UPS and FedEx, are appropriate to customers' specifications

  • Inspects products received

_Minimum Requirements_

  • Must have a high school education (or its equivalent) and 6 months previous clerical experience and 1 year of Business School or special study applicable to job requirements which may include a dedicated training program through a current or previous employer

  • Experience in excess of the one year required may be considered in lieu or the education requirements above high school or GED level
